So, you’re curious about what it’s like to train at Surge MMA – or maybe you’re thinking about signing up yourself (or for your child), but you’re not quite sure what to expect.
Good news: whether you’re a total beginner, a parent of a martial arts-loving kid, or someone returning after time away, we’ve built our schedule to meet people where they are and help them grow.
From striking to grappling, from toddlers to adults, from hobbyists to competitors-there’s a rhythm and structure to how we train each week. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at what that actually looks like.
Monday to Friday: Building Momentum Through Routine
Kids Programs
Our week starts strong with age-specific kids classes that run from late afternoon into the early evening. These are split into groups like:
- Tiny Titans (ages 3-4) – Focused on movement, listening skills, and coordination.
- Little Ninjas (ages 5-6) – Introducing martial arts fundamentals with fun drills and games.
- Samurai Kids (ages 7-12) – Learning real techniques, partner drills, self-defense, and discipline, amongst many other character traits.
Each day builds on the last. Kids gradually develop better movement, confidence, and character-not through pressure, but through progress.
Adult Classes
Evenings are when our adult classes kick into gear, offering a blend of:
- Striking (Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai)
- Grappling (Gi and No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu)
- Competition Team Practices
Students rotate through focused drills, pad work, technique chains, and live sparring. Mondays might lean technical, Tuesdays more intense. It’s designed to challenge without overwhelming, and there’s always something new to work on.
Early Risers & Midday Movers: The 7am and Noon Advantage
We offer 7am morning classes a few times per week, giving professionals and early birds the perfect way to start their day. These classes are shorter, more focused, and packed with energy.
Not a morning person? Our 12pm noon classes run during the week for those who want to train on their lunch break or avoid the evening rush. It’s the best hour of your day-sweat, focus, done.
Specialized Classes & Flow Programs
We also run advanced and specialty sessions throughout the week for students looking to level up:
- Evolve & Flow Program – A path designed for the serious student and/or competitors or those who want to train with more intensity, intention, and long-term commitment.
- Women’s-Only Classes – A supportive space for women to train hard, learn confidently, and build community.
- Private Sessions – For personalized coaching or extra reps on your schedule.
Saturdays: Sparring, Skill Building & Family Time
Saturday is often the highlight of the week. Mornings typically include:
- Kids Skill Clinics or Games Classes
- Competition Team Drills
- Sparring & Rolling Sessions for Adults
Depending on the weekend, you might see bonus events like Family Training Days, Women’s Self-Defense Workshops, or prep classes before local tournaments.
Sundays: Rest, Recovery, and Review
While we often keep Sundays open for recovery, we occasionally use them for makeup classes, seminars, or special events. It’s our way of keeping the energy up-without burning out.
Why This Schedule Works
We didn’t build this weekly structure by accident. Every class, time slot, and progression is designed to:
✅ Keep kids improving without feeling overwhelmed
✅ Give adults consistent opportunities to grow
✅ Support busy families with flexible options
✅ Develop beginners and serious competitors alike
We’re not just filling time-we’re helping people of all ages become stronger, more focused, and more confident in their lives.
